Annie Herron is Co-Director of eyewash. She has been involved with several galleries. In the first half of the '80's, she was Director of Semaphore East in the East Village, which gave solo exhibitions to Tseng Kwong Chi w/ Keith Haring, Mark Kostabi & Ellen Berkenblit and solo debuts in NYC to Martin Wong, Lady Pink, Felix Pene du Bois, Lori Taschler, Janet McKiernan & Bobby G. From 1991-1993 she was Owner/ Director of TEST-SITE in Williamsburg, which gave solo debuts in NYC to Lauren Szold, David Shapiro, Roxy Paine, Ken Butler, Mary Ziegler, Vince Gargiulo & Ebon Fisher. During the 1995-1996 art season she was Co- Director of Black + Herron Space in Soho, which gave solo exhibitions to Jane Dickson, Margery Mellman & Patricia Smith and solo debuts in NYC to Elana Herzog, Shari Mendelson, Matt Freedman, David Lindberg, Breon Dunigan, Mery Lynn McCorkle & Nancy Diamond. She has also guest-curated numerous theme exhibitions at other spaces in NYC, including Rotunda Gallery, Tourniquet, Pierogi 2000 & Sauce and various spaces elsewhere in the U.S., including The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne and Wake Forest University. She is also a writer of short stories and has published art reviews and essays on various topics and is currently working on a book about the art world. She has lived in Williamsburg since 1987 with her son Erik.
